He wasn't eligible for any prize money so why not bring him back?
I say invite him back just so other people with heart conditions can see how well he has done and how much weight he has lost. Then they can no longer use excuses about not being able to lose weight due to 'their heart condition'.
As far as how he stayed and let Sean go, he did no different to most of the contestants, he tried to stay as long as he could in the house. some say he would have known he had to go soon, so he should have gone. However the whole nature of the competition vibe in teh house probably would make it hard to be self sacrificing.
Given each weekly weigh in is actually another 2 weeks in the house for the contestants, then probably they all see another 1, 2, 3 weeks or whatever where they get a small wage for being in the house, meaning a break from work and responsibilities where they can devote 24/7 to weight loss and learning some habits on this.
However the show cannot let people endanger themselves on teh show, so they did have to let him go. We do not see all footage, but the week or so prior to the issue coming up i was shocked to see glimpes of footage where John tried to join in pulling the barge in for a bit, and another where he was jogging in the enforcers or some other jog session. It was like he could not bare to not join in those challenges, and he could not stick to only walking.
Plus by the time he had let Sean a massive loser for the team go, i believe he felt pressured to lose as much each week as Sean would have. So he felt pressure to not let the team down.
To risk his life under those pressures is not good, and they did warn him, and even his team said they did not want him to risk his life to do the numbers, and they were crying about it. it sounds like he went way too far with training outside his training heart rate advised.
Some other shows in other places have had cardiac arrests on the show. They probably should have let him go earlier, but he is very likable, interesting character. i am very glad they did not put him at risk by staying longer. It had become too hard for him not to want to risk his health to win for his team.
