Biggest Loser Australia 3×65: Eliminated Elimination Round One!

Started by Mythor · 10 months ago

Tonight on The Biggest Loser the games for the eliminated contestants really begin.
Weights will be slung across shoulders and the knives will inevitably come out in some fashion, because that’s the only kind of drama the producers know how to produce, these days!
Want the deta ... Continue reading »

  • The challenge tomorrow looks freakin' immense.

Cosi won't endear himself to people with the JC reference, but damn was he impressive. He had a lot of weight on him for a loooong time, plus he's only around 90 kilo's now. It was almost his body weight on his shoulders. If that's not impressive, I dunno what is.
  • Before I comment I should mention that I like Cosi. He's got an iron will. And the JC reference doesn't bother me as I am not religious. So I suppose I'm a bit biased... but:
I'm glad Cosi got through. The rest of those guys are in deep sh*t now. I understand team loyalty and all that, but.. picking Sheridan over Bryce for the super challenge??? What is Sheridan good at? I mean, other than whinging, that is. But Bryce got in anyway. I suppose the good news, at least for those who don't like Bryce, is that he's going to be tethered to Michelle for the challenge. If that weren't the case, then it'd be Bryce and Cosi back in the game.
P.S. I'm from America and I love your show. It is better than the U.S. Biggest Loser in some ways. The best part is, it's on six days a week rather than one. The theme some to the Aussie version is better too. Our BL competition just ended on Tuesday so I'm glad I still have something to watch. We don't get a new BL competition until October (!). I know your BL ends in a couple of weeks, but do any of you know when the next Aussie version starts? I'm looking forward to it already!
  • Why would you pick Sheridan over Bryce? You were told to.
The trainers were probably told to pick one guy and one girl, if possible.

I think Sheridan is probably the stongest out of the eliminated ladies. She certainly has done well on the outside considering how early in the game she went.
  • No Mythor!!! Shannan had them doing "Super High Intensity Interval Training" - or SHIIT! HA. Killed me! Quote of the night.

The Boyfriend's response to Cothi's JC comparison was "Well his album will probably do well, but I imagine he'll cop a lot of flack from the media". Funny boy, that one.
  • I think Nicola is stronger to be perfectly honest. She looks incredible and was always reasonably fit. I think the smartest thing would have been picking Cosi and Bryce. I think the trainers are obviously smart enough to realise this, so either their hatred for the black team has reached stupid levels which causes them to make dumb decisions, or, like someone has said, they've had a little birdy in their ear telling them to pick a boy and a girl.

Bryce is tethered to Michelle, so I don't think they'll get through. Michael and Sheridan aren't that strong, but they are tethered to Shannon who is beastly. Cosi and Nicola could have this one in the bag. If it was singles and going on who came first/second, I'd bet my money on Cosi and Bryce.
  • RE: Nicola vs Sheridan
Yeah, I can't see why you'd think that.
Sheridan started heavier, had 4 less weeks in the house and is currently a very similar weight (200g difference).
Nicola has a loss currently of 25%
Sheridan has a loss currently of 29.5%

Maybe Nicola would be a better choice 'cause she'd be less of a "threat" to other contestants but that's about it. It certainly wouldn't be in the trainer's interests.
  • Weight loss doesn't inherently affect fitness though. From what I saw of Nicola, she can be really motivated, plus she's with her old red team member Cosi. Sheridan - I vaguely remember - was a complainer, and that she was always constantly whinging. What if the challenge turns out to be too difficult?
  • Maybe.
Whinging does not equal giving up. Neighther does complaining. As is shown by Cosi, as he is the biggest offender of both when things don't go his way.
Could be just the way the editors have cut the footage on both people's accounts, though.

I think Sheridan has a lot to prove and had done hard work on the outside to acheive such results.

Do I think they will win the challenge? I doubt it but not from Sheridan's lacking.
  • I agree to a certain extent with Nat. I suspect when it turned out that there was three girls and three guys going through, the producers probably got in Shannan and Michelle's ears and said, you can have your pick of the litter, but you've got to have a boy and a girl each.

But I suspect that even if they'd been allowed to pick two boys, neither would have wanted Bryce. It would have been nothing personal against him, but as a Black Team member, Michelle and Shannan still have their point to prove. Bob and Jillian tried to act all big and tough and I doubt Michelle and Shannan will be forgetting that any time soon. ;)

One of the strengths of the Aussie show was that it's on 6 days a week, but unfortunately this year the "filler" has become worse than ever, making it a little painful to watch at times.
The next Australian season will likely start next year around February. We've only had one per year so far and I doubt that will change.
  • Heh, I didn't even notice that. Funny! :D
  • Sheridan is very gutsy, but in a straight out competition I think Nicola would probably beat her. Nicola's managed to outdo Garry in certain things, so the potential is certainly there.
I think you could make an argument to include either though. Nicola is strong but Sheridan is gutsy and both are likely to be useful in the mega super duper challenge.

I don't think you could make an argument to pick Michelle over either, though! :)
  • I hadn't considered that before, that maybe the producers had a talk with the trainers before they chose teams. But seriously, putting personal feelings aside and that "boy/girl" stuff, which two players would you want on your team? Cosi and Bryce, of course. That team would have a 100% chance of winning the challenge. I don't think they like each other that much, but that's irrevelant. They're both so competitive and strong that they'd just blast through the challenge.
It's kind of a bummer that this contest seems to be rigged in some ways. But our U.S. Biggest Loser is the same way, and it's almost comical at times. For example, how do they know what order to have the contestants vote in at the weigh-ins? And I think they tell the contestants to purposely say things, then go against their previous declarations in order to add drama. But the idea of a successful TV show is to improve the ratings, so I guess they gotta do what they gotta do.
